Protecting Yourself Against Identity Theft

insurance-body

With the advancements in technology, the incidence of identity theft is increasing as well. New platforms of information database mean new grounds for hackers to invade with the purpose of stealing your personal information. Identity theft is the crime wherein one person assumes the identity of another for his or her own personal gain. By acquiring your private personal information, they can spend your money, commit crimes using your identity and use services which are meant for you. Sometimes it is too late when you find out about the offense and the damage to you is already very extensive.

The first thing to know is the way in which they get your identity. By simply knowing their usual methods of stealing your information, you can build your first line of identity theft prevention. You can take action on your own so that you stay protected from this crime.

A simple way to obtain your information is by going through your trash. If you are careless, your billing statements that you throw in the trash can be used to get some of your information. You can either just keep your bills together in a single envelope or if you really do not want them anymore, you can shred or burn the paper before throwing it away. There will be no more information for them to use to impersonate you.

You should also be careful when doing transactions in public. Others can glance over your shoulder and see what you may write on a piece of paper or input into a computer. Always be aware of the others around you and be sure that you have privacy when providing your personal information.

Many cases of identity thefts are done by gaining remote access to your computer. They can send you scams to your email telling you all sorts of things just to gain information. They can also attach Trojan horses and viruses into files that you download so that they can take control of your computer and acquire your files remotely. Besides updating your computer security with firewall, antivirus, antimalware and other security systems, you should also be aware of what looks like scam. If something asks for your private information online, do not give it unless you are 100% sure that you are giving it to the right people.

Others can also be victimized by inputting their login details into a fake web page. You might not notice any difference since it will really log you in and redirect you to the correct page. However, if it is a fake you will notice that the website address is different. Always make sure to login only on the correct website. Once you have entered your login details, the hackers can then access your account freely.

On networking sites, you should not provide a lot of your personal information as someone you do not know might be able to view it. You can also add protection by allowing only the people you really know to view your profile.

Sometimes, the simple ways of identity theft protection are what you just need to avoid being a victim. You can stop these culprits from stealing your identity if you are careful.

Credit protection has gone rampant these days and you never know who’s going to be the next victim. To prepare yourself from this unscrupulous crime, you should try identity theft insurance to keep your peace of mind. Or you may want to try lifelock.

Named Drivers On A Policy

insurance-body

An insurance policy comes with many things; many which have stipulations. Your insurance policy requires you to make sure you list out your drivers by name on the policy itself before they are allowed to drive your car. If they are not listed on the policy as a named driver, they will not be covered. This often happens with households that have more than one person of driving age as well as couples.

Having more than one named driver on a policy has its good points as well as has some drawbacks. It is obvious that the good points would include complete coverage, flexibility in drivers, etc. This is especially nice for those parents who have multiple driving age children. This allows them to use the same car while all being covered.

A drawback, and possible the largest drawback, is the fact that the insurance premium does go up for every driver that you add to the insurance policy. The insurance company does this because as a driver is added, their risk goes up a lot. In other words, you might be a great driver, however, your brother might not be. If your brother is living in the home and is of driving age, there is a good chance that he might have to drive your car at one point or another. His bad record could also affect your premium even more at that point. This also increases if the named drivers are younger or new drivers.

Being that named drivers is a constant occurrence, you can eliminate costs by choosing a company that allows you to add temporary named drivers. Sometimes this is helpful for family vacations or someone needing to use your car for a set amount of time. This covers appropriately as well as not being a consistent cost. It would be a onetime fee.

Always remember you are responsible for your own vehicle. This means, if you allow someone one drive you car while not on the policy as a named driver, you are putting yourself at great risk. If an accident came about, you would ultimately be responsible and have to pay damages, get sued and more.

To eliminate this from happing due to the cost factor, many people decide to put their younger driver on their policy instead of getting their own. This helps eliminate cost because the main driver is the experienced parent. Insurance companies, however, are catching on quickly and banning this practice in some areas.

Another option is just the opposite. The parents can be on the new driver?s policy. Any way you have it, it still saves money because there are responsible and proven good drivers on the record. This, in turn, eliminates some risk for the insurance company from their perspective.

The last piece of advice is to shop around. Do not settle for an insurance policy that does not deliver what you want. Instead, look around for one that fits your needs; there are many to choose from.

The Insurance Broker – Selling the Big Policy

insurance-body

An insurance broker may try to sell you on one big policy to replace the various smaller ones you carry on your home and its furnishings. Is it a bargain? Maybe yes, maybe no. It depends on the policy, the company behind it, your needs and your resources. You certainly should not go for it without examining what you’re buying. We have seen one such package policy which increased the “deductible,” restricted the terms of coverage, lowered the face amounts, and increased the premium – over the sum of the smaller policies it was calculated to replaces.

The broker touted it as advantageous. It certainly was – to the company and the salesman’s commission check. Why, then had he recommended it to a regular client? Closer analysis showed that it did have certain other advantages, mainly in the coverage generalizations. Choice between it and the previous separate policies was really a toss-up. Such ‘packaging’, has two basic advantages, one for the company, one for you.

1) It saves the company a considerable amount of bookkeeping, thus money. You are one policyholder, not several.

2) It saves you bookkeeping, too. You need keep track of one policy and remember only what is in it. What’s more, you become a rather more favored client, and that is no insignificant item, since the company’s performance when called upon to back up its guarantees is at least as important as what the policy says. All companies in any business favor a client who buys more or from whom they make a better profit.

The rule here is the same as in all insurance questions. Read the policy. If there is some wording you don’t understand, look it up in the dictionary and ask to have it explained so you understand it by your agent.

If you still can’t understand it, go further by looking it up in an insurance reference book such as you will find in any good public library. Just ask the librarian.

If this effort finds you still confused then you have wandered into that never-never land of the true meaning of an insurance policy. Beware! If you go a step further you will have entered upon a lifelong quest. Get a good insurance broker in a conversational mood and ask him a few fundamental questions about the actual meaning of what it says in the policies he sells. Rare is the broker who can answer intelligently.

The Right Car Insurance Deductible Will Incise Your Budget

insurance-body

Trying to settle on the right auto insurance can be challenging for someone that is not used to shopping around for insurance. Falling in love with a low premium can be a dangerous thing when the deductible means that the bank account will be drained if the insurance is ever needed. It is important to choose a car insurance deductible that is just as affordable as the monthly premium.

The car insurance deductible is the amount of money that the car insurance policy holder is liable for if the policy is needed. People on tight budgets will sometimes try and save a little each month, but when it is time to use the policy, they cannot afford to cover the large deductible that is required in order to get their car fixed. All of a sudden, the policy becomes useless to them.

For the most part, policies will be listed directly on insurance websites. All of the details may not be listed, but there will be plenty of information to narrow down the choices. Restrictions on what they cover and what the deductibles are should be readily available. Just be careful to make sure that as the choices are getting narrowed down, that the deductible that goes with the premium can be covered.

When shopping around, the money that the insured can afford to pay each month is of vital importance. Many people will set aside a slush fund that they will only use for their car. This is a great idea because it allows the individual to know exactly what kind of a deductible that they can afford. For instance, if the insured has $1,500 in the bank specifically for car repairs, they can search for all policies that have a deductible of $1,500 or less.

Trying to crunch all of these numbers is not as difficult as it seems. The insurance companies will try and make it as easy as possible by having deductible calculators on their sites. The shopper can put in the amount of money that they can afford to pay each month or each year and the site will begin to show the policies that fall into that range.

It is so much easier today to find the right policies because of the Internet. The shopper can go from site to site and match up the different policies or they can go to all-in-one sites that will allow the shopper to get an email with the different policies that several of the sites offer. All of this makes finding the right policy much easier than it was as little as 5 years ago.

If this is still a bit much to try and figure out, get the help that is available right from the website. Many of them will have a live chat that the user can use to talk to a representative about the different policies. If this is not available, give them a call or use the email that is supplied to get a quick response.

Shopping for car insurance can be a chore, but knowing what car insurance deductible is affordable is a great starting point. This will get the shopper started in the right direction and will not waste any time looking at policies that are simply not realistic. Remember, the more that can be covered out of pocket means the lower the policy monthly premium will be. For those with a good driving record, this can be a huge money saver.

Travel Insurance Quota: Tips On How To Earn Double Your Present Salary

insurance-body

As a sales person selling insurance to travelers you will want to at least meet your allotted travel insurance quote if not exceed it. The best way to achieve your objectives is to follow whatever useful tips you are able to find that should hopefully point you in the direction that will help you earn considerable amount of money. Only those sales persons that know the art of making a sale will be in a position to earn double what they normally earn. In fact, one point of curiosity for each travel insurance salesman is whether they can through dint of hard work learn how to earn in six figures.

Without a doubt, most sales persons that sell travel insurance are known to be more confused than clear about how to improve their selling abilities. Unless the fine art of salesmanship is mastered there is not much hope of achieving and exceeding quotas set by the management. This in turn means that you must be careful that you always let your client know how much you care for their well being and that you are not just a salesperson out to make a quick sale.

This means as a committed sales person you must ensure that you bring to the client all the promises that they have read about in the company brochures and also in the billboard advertisements. You should even consider selling your travel insurance policies in the same way that a fast food restaurant makes their hamburgers or to do the same things as are applicable when manufacturing widgets.

As a person with the job of selling travel insurance it is important that you do not succumb to the pressures that your seniors will be exerting on you to make more sales and that too in the shortest possible time.

There are fortunately many effective ways to increase your sales and so you have to look beyond simply handing your business cards to clients and ensuring that you are punctual in meeting with the client. These are obvious sales methods that will help you achieve a few minor successes but will not give you that six figure salary.

What you need to do is to do things in a way that you like and which helps in closing a deal. You should even use software that will help show you how to make more effective presentations and which helps to teach you how you can illustrate the benefits of the travel insurance policy that you are selling.

Once you get the hang of it, you should easily meet your travel insurance quota and also exceed it by a wide margin.

Information On Rental Car Insurance

insurance-body

Most of us have been there before. We make all the proper arrangements for our trip, which sites to visit, booked the hotel with the right room package. We even have picked just the right car for that road trip that we need to rent. When the days comes everything seem to work out just fine until you set foot in the car rental agency wanting to pick up the keys to that rental car. When the final bill comes and we have picked the most comprehensive insurance package, we are shocked that the price of the rental car suddenly doubled. Looking through the details, you find that it is the car insurance that is doubling the rental costs. It is quite normal for people to get very aggravated and even shocked that something like the insurance for their rental car can cost so much. In this article it is our hope that we can bring to light some common ways to first arrest the rental car insurance costs and also to look at ways to reduce them substantially.

Let’s first explore the common insurance items that are available for car rentals: We’ll list them below, and yes, it is important to know them:

CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), LDW (Loss Damage Waiver), PDW (Physical Damage Waiver) This is the most basic of coverage that you absolutely must have before leaving the rental car lot. It covers you from any financial impact when there is damage to the car. There are however normally some very strict conditions. These normally include distance and area restrictions along with your sobriety.

LIS (Liability Insurance Supplement) This insurance is in addition to the one above. It will cover any third party that is involved with any accident that happens with the rental car.

PAI (Personal Accident Insurance or Coverage) This coverage is also in addition to whatever is above and covers the passengers and whatever damage or maiming requiring hospitalization.

PEC (Personal Effects Coverage) or Personal Property Insurance This is the least important of all the coverage options that we have listed above. It covers whatever personal belongings that you have in the rental car if it should be lost in an accident of a break-in.

The insurance coverage items that we have described to you above are ordered from the most basic at the top to the extras at the bottom. The most basic insurance package that individuals should drive away with are at least a combination of CDWs and LISs. This is the very minimum coverage that we consider safe. Any less and you could be in for a very messy and prolonged case if you do get into an accident.

There is one thing that many people looking for rental cars fail to understand. Insurance for rental cars need not always be from the rental car agency itself. Sometimes your comprehensive coverage for your own car back home might already have a little something inside to cover rental cars in the same country. It is certainly something that happens more often than people think. After all, the insurance is labeled comprehensive for a reason right? The smart person would check with their insurers first what coverage they have and if it extends to rental cars. Having said that, it is however very unsafe to assume that you already have coverage from your comprehensive coverage. You must absolutely be sure as the consequences of being uninsured are too great.

Sometimes you might not only be covered by your comprehensive plan but sometimes even your credit card too. This is especially true for higher end “gold” or “platinum” offerings. These cards normally have some sort of personal property protection package built in and as such will already work as an PEC insurance coverage. As with its availability, it will also be very wise to check with your credit card provider. Again it is very dangerous to assume you are already covered.

It is only after you check with both your current car insurance provider and your credit card should you even think of purchasing the rental car insurance from the rental company. Naturally, if you do it the other way around you could very well be wasting money with double coverage. The coverage that you buy at the rental agency could very well overlap the coverage that you already have with your current comprehensive insurance or your credit card.

It should also be noted that if you opt to get insurance from the rental car agency that it will actually cost more than what you can get from your own car insurance company or as provided by the credit card. It isn’t abnormal to find that rental car agencies will charge almost double for the insurance coverage. This is a part of their profit model to catch customers with no insurance so they are forced to get it or not get the rental car.

When it comes to rental car importance, coverage is certainly necessary. However, rental car agency coverage isn’t necessary. It will do you good to check that you aren’t already covered from other sources so you don’t double up on insurance as the rental agencies normally want you to. Check to see what insurance coverage you already have and only buy it from the rental car agencies if you don’t have the coverage and genuinely need it.

Sizing Up Home Insurance Quotes To Find Affordable Rates

insurance-body

Homes cost $100,000 and more on average. You would insure a car for far less than that, so it is common sense to do so for a home. The problem is that many citizens don’t do so, as it isn’t required and often times it just isn’t within the budget of everyone to do so without first learning how to get discounts.

The deductible is the amount paid when you make a claim. A lower deductible means you will, as an example, only pay $250 for a major repair to your home after a tornado. A higher deductible can be put on your account in exchange for a lesser premium each month. The trade off is that you will have to pay perhaps thousands of dollars for a claim instead of just a couple hundred dollars.

It is recommended that you constantly keep your insurance company updated on your personal belongings. An insurance company will not insure items and objects that have not been claimed by you. Do a review of your belongings and any changes to your home at least once a year and submit them to your insurance company for safekeeping.

Companies today are starting to offer more than one type of insurance. Home insurance companies are taking on new endeavors in car insurance, health insurance, and so forth. If you give your insurance agency more business, sometimes they will give a discount for being a loyal customer. If not, check with other insurance agencies to see if they do.

You shouldn’t include the price of the land that your real estate sits on. This is a mistake that new home owners make that only puts more expenses on premiums each month, without actually giving any benefit. The land will probably not be damaged in most environmental disasters unless you are a farmer. In most cases, you can just tell your insurance agency you aren’t including the cost of land you own.

Find a home inspector to do a review of your home. Some insurance agents will even require it before they insure your home. This might lead to some upfront costs that you may not like, but it’s necessary in order to keep your home from falling apart. Faulty pipes is a good example, as it is something you could live with but in the future it will potentially cause massive water damage. If that does occur, insurance agencies might decide to not rule in your favor.

Final Thoughts

It’s true that home insurance isn’t cheap. Even small plans will cost you anywhere from $100 to $300 and up each month. It’s a large amount of money to pay, but it’s worth it when considering you could lose a lot less. Accidents do happen, and when they do you will be glad to have home insurance.

What Pet Insurance Company Will Match Your Needs?

insurance-body

Luckily there are very few pet owners that do not yet realize how important a pet insurance package can be for the health of their pets. Find the right pet insurance company can on the other hand be a tremendous challenge.

I have therefore decided to give you a few helpful points that can lead you toward your end goal of finding a perfect matching insurance company for your pet.

Tip 1: Be sure to choose a pet insurance company that works locally or at least in your state or country. Local pet insurers will know what is going on in your area of the world.

Tip 2: Look in the local papers for anything negative publicity about the company. In times of crises be very aware of any mentioning of financial difficulties as a bankrupt insurance company will do you no good.

Tip 3: Pick up the phone and call the company. Are they friendly and helpful or do they make you feel like you’re only in their way? When you end the conversation you should be left with a feeling that they have your best interests in mind.

Tip 4: Compare their prices and their coverage plans to their competitors. Are they charging higher fees without adding any significant value to the product? Often times you will find that the insurance companies will have charts on their websites where they compare both prices and coverage to some of their competitors.

Tip 5: Testimonials are great but honest customer reviews are even better. Be sure to go online and check out what former (or existing) customers have said about the company. You can always find someone who is negative but if you see the same bad thing mentioned more than once maybe that isn’t the company for you.

So there you have it – 5 quick tips that will guide you in the right direction. Now that is not all there is to it but for more information youll have to visit my website by clicking the link in the author box. I look forward to hearing from you.

Author: Mr. Sommer, PhD. is helping pet owners finding the right pet insurance plan for your pet. 2 sites will be worth checking out. One is the Banfield Pet Insurance and the other is the AKC Pet Insurance. Be sure to at least check them out.

The 3 Different Types Of Business Liability Insurance Explained

insurance-body

Liability is nothing but the damage caused to a person (in terms of financial losses, physical injury, or mental stress) because of the negligence of another person.

Whether you are the proprietor of a small company or the owner of a big multinational company, your business is at a great risk and anyone can sue you at any point of time. You can be held accountable for some kind of negligence in your operations or injury caused to a third party in your business premises. Therefore, you need to safeguard and protect your business from any kind of liabilities by taking business liability insurance.

Business liability insurance supports you financially by paying the costs to compensate for the third party damage caused and therefore, does not allow you to feel the pinch in your pocket. In addition, this kind of liability insurance also covers all the damage caused to employees and clients, who may have been suffered damage either due to your business negligence or due to some kind of accident in your office premises. The damage costs cover the legal expenses (in case someone sues you for negligence or for business misconduct), as well as the medical costs (which include the expenses for hospital stay, doctor?s fee, treatment, medication, as well as the compensation for lost of man hours).

Business liability insurance is of three types and you can opt for the one which meets the requirements of your business ?

The first type of business liability insurance is the general liability insurance, which is also referred to as commercial general liability. It offers the basic protection to your business against the most common liability risks, such as property damage claims, advertising claims or physical injury claims. It covers the legal costs for this kind of lawsuits filed against your company. The general liability insurance covers the claims made not only by your employees injured within or outside your office premises, while they are on an official duty, but also covers the injury claims of clients and customers within your property premises.

Then second type of business liability insurance is known as professional liability insurance. It is also commonly referred to as the ?errors and omissions? coverage. The professional liability insurance covers such enterprises and businesses that provide services to the public and covers professionals such as financial consultants, stock brokers, environmental consultants, or doctors. Any malpractice or errors on the part of these professionals can result in claims from people who came to seek their services such as claims of financial loss or injury claims. In fact, in several states it is mandatory for professional workers to obtain professional liability insurance to protect themselves from liabilities.

The third type of business liability insurance is called the product liability insurance. This kind of insurance is meant for those businesses which repair, sell, or manufacture any products. The coverage costs pay for those claims which are made by people who have either been injured after using your products or whose property has suffered extensive damage after the use of your products. The coverage costs can vary from case to case, depending on the risk potential of your product and also depending on the degree of damage or injury afflicted to the person who has filed the claim.
